Coaching

- You may be just have begun exploring the possibility that your child may be gifted, perhaps a friend or family member has mentioned that something seems different about your child and encouraged you to explore the possibility of giftedness.
- You may have just received a "diagnosis" and you are staring at the test results which confirm what you suspected all along, and you are now are overwhelmed with understanding just what it means to be gifted.
- You are considering an alternative educational path such as homeschooling and you have no idea how to get started, it is all so intimidating!
Parenting a gifted child presents specific challenges and unique joys not easily shared with other parents or family members who often just don't "get it". You might be hesitant to even tell anyone for fear of how they may respond but how can you move forward if you cannot even talk about it?
Take a deep breath, you have come to the right place.
I have found that parents of gifted kids need support in almost everything because without asking for it, they’ve been given this wonderful, challenging role.
Sometimes all a parent needs is “a sounding board ”. Talking through issues helps clarify the appropriate responses and action steps. Other times, parents come to me needing someone who has been down the path ahead of them and can offer wise counsel and a comforting calm to help them begin to make choices that work best for their own unique child and situation.
As a former therapist, coach and now homeschooling mom to 4 gifted kids, my coaching provides personal and professional experience to gifted issues while at the same time offering expertise on available resources both locally and beyond.
